I’m Carla McGee

Mother, nurse, survivor, and legacy builder.

For nearly three decades, I’ve stood in labor and delivery rooms across this country, advocating for mothers who weren’t always seen, heard, or held. But my real training didn’t start in nursing school. It began long before... Through trauma. Through triumph. Through tenacity.

I have lived in my car. I have weathered divorce, worn combat boots in the Navy, and crawled my way out of proud veteran depression, cancer, and the silent aftermath of sexual assault. And still I rise

I have raised babies while healing wounds no one could see. worked 2-3 jobs at a time. while in school full-time. Raised two children with only a sliver of a village. But even in the shadows, I was being shaped. Poured into by the ancestral wisdom of women who taught me how to birth strength in the darkest moments. That sacred fire? I will now pour it into everything I do.

As the founder of Crowning Legacy, I created a soul-rooted space to guide mothers, birthworkers, and healers. As Ms. Carla, BSN, RN, I bring sassy, evidence-based education with humor, heart, and holy ancestral backing.

I am also the storyteller behind Bloodline & Bedside: The Becoming of Ms. Carla, a memoir that is rooted in the stories we inherit, survive, and pass down.

I do this for my children. I do this for my grandchildren. I do this for the ones who feel alone but were never forgotten. I do this for the village.

Because our voice deserves to be heard. Our legacy deserves to be crowned.

Every painful chapter taught me to protect life fiercely—and speak truth loudly.

Now, I’m channeling all of that into my life's work:
